The Set Custom Levels command in the Level menu opens the Custom Seventh Chords dialog box, where you can create four custom levels for the Seventh Chords drill. We'll discuss the items in the dialog box from top left to bottom left, and then top right to bottom right.

Use the tab controls, labelled Custom 1 to Custom 4, to switch between the four custom levels. You can create up to four custom levels at one time.
The name you type here will appear in the custom section of the Level menu. It will replace one of the Custom Seventh Chords 1 through Custom Seventh Chords 4 menu items shown below.

The Diatonic Chords, Common Tone Chords, and Random Roots buttons correspond to the three subdrills of the Seventh Chords drill. Each of these buttons opens a dialog box with more options. The assignment type currently in effect is shown by a circle to the left of its name. The settings currently in effect are shown in the text display area below the three buttons.
When you click the Diatonic Chords button, the Diatonic Chords dialog box appears.

Major Keys - Select the major keys to use.
Minor Keys - Select the minor keys to use.
Scale Degrees - Select the scale degrees to use as chord roots.
When you click the Random Roots button, the Random Roots dialog box appears.

Roots - Select the pitches used for chord roots.
When you click the Common Tone Chords button, the Common Tone dialog box appears. It was discussed earlier on page 11.
When this setting is on, the key signature will be displayed on the staff; when it is off, accidentals will appear as part of the chord. This setting is enabled only in the Diatonic subdrill.
When this setting is on, the program will use all of the possible chords in each key before changing to a new key; when it is off, the program will choose chords randomly from any of the enabled keys. This setting is enabled only in the Diatonic subdrill.
Click the Set button to open the Seventh Chord Inversions dialog box, where you can choose the chord inversions to use. A picture of the Seventh Chord Inversions dialog box is shown on page 15.
Click the Set button to open the Seventh Chord Qualities dialog box, where you can choose the chord qualities to use. The selections available depend on the keys and scale degrees you've previously selected. A picture of the Seventh Chord Qualities dialog box is shown on page 15.
Click the Set button to open the Answer Options dialog box. Answer Options are discussed on page 15.
Click the Set button to open the Clefs dialog box, where you can select treble clef, bass clef, alto clef, tenor clef, or the grand staff. A picture of the Clefs dialog box is shown on page 10.
