MIDI Sound Module [Hardware]
[Setup 1] Setup 2-Win
[Setup 3] [Setup
4] [Setup 5]
Caution: Make sure your computer is powered off before making these connections. In this setup you have a MIDI sound module connected to your computer.
You'll need one MIDI cable to connect your MIDI sound module to your computer. Notes played by MUSIC LESSONS II are sent to the sound module following this cable path: MIDI OUT on the interface goes to MIDI IN on the sound module. For this setup, the driver settings on the MIDI page of the Preferences dialog might look like this:
The Input driver is ignored; you only have to specify the Output driver. The MIDI sound module Output driver often has "MIDI," "external," or "MPU-401" in its name. If more than one Output driver is listed, there is no harm in trying them all; one should work. The names of the drivers may be different on your system. You can answer questions using the mouse to play the on-screen Piano and Guitar instruments, and sounds will play through the MIDI sound module. To hear them, you'll need to connect headphones or speakers to the sound module.
