  • If you have an external MIDI device you can use it. This will generally produce the highest quality musical sounds.
  • If you do not have an external MIDI device you can use the MIDI portion of your Sound Card to produce a wide variety of high quality musical sounds. You'll ned to run the output of the sound card to your external speakers or headphones.

Macintosh Recommendations

  • If you have MIDI capability, use MIDI Sound, which will produce the highest quality musical sounds using your MIDI device
  • If MIDI is not available and QuickTime is, use QuickTime Sound, which will produce a wide variety of high quality musical sounds using your computer speaker.
  • If neither MIDI Sound nor QuickTime Sound is available, use Mac Sound, which will produce sampled piano and guitar sounds using your computer speaker.
